I will be offering several glass and jewelry classes this summer and fall. See below for details and to register. Additional spring-summer classes will be posted soon.

Photos in Glass

Transfer your favorite photo or image into fused glass to create a one of a kind piece of art. Participants will email a digital copy of a photo to the museum prior to class so it will be ready to be transferred onto glass on the day of the class. After fusing the image into a plate or tray, the image will have a warm sepia tone.

S-Curve Seascape

Curved glass seascape

Create a free-standing curved glass seascape. Students will create a glass piece that will be gently curved and be able to stand on its own after firing, perfect for using as a candle stand or for placing in a window to catch the light.

Part Sheet Platter

Part Sheet Class

Create your own custom-designed sheet of glass to use in a fusing project! In Part 1 of this class, students will learn several techniques using frit, stringers, and glass powders to design a unique sheet of glass.  The sheets are called part sheets because they will be cut up and incorporated into a finished work in Part 2 of this class.

Glass Wave

Wave

Make a splash with your own fused glass wave. Capture the beauty of the great lakes or the ocean in glass. Cut and shape colorful glass into a beautiful fused glass wave. Your finished piece can be displayed in an iron stand, (additional cost for stand), slumped into a dish, or a hung in a window as a stunning sun catcher.

Preserving Leaves in Glass (Two Part Class)

In Part 1 of this class, students will learn how to combine powdered glass and dried leaves to create a custom sheet of glass. The leaves will be fired into a sheet of glass that will then be cut up and incorporated into a fused glass dish in Part 2 of the class.

Curves in Glass

Curved Leaf Tray

Learn to cut circles, curves and irregular shapes in glass. Master the dreaded circle cut! Explore techniques for cutting circles irregular shapes in glass. Students will create a round, leaf, or heart-shaped dish with curved edges and lines.

Silver Clay and Glass Jewelry -Virtual

Dichroic blue cabochon is set in a fine silver rectangle embossed with a musical score. Pendant hangs from a sterling silver necklace.

Create a beautiful pendant combining silver metal clay and glass! In this online class, the basics of working with precious metal clay (PMC3) will be introduced, including shaping, texturing, drying, kiln firing, and finishing. Students will shape silver clay to create a setting for a piece of fused dichroic glass.

Tools and materials are provided in a kit to be picked up at my home studio in Appleton, WI before class. The glass and silver clay pendant will be fired in my kiln and available to be picked up at a later date.

Experience with metal clay is helpful, but not required.

Class Fee: $50 – includes kiln firing and finishing of your piece
Materials Fee: $55 – includes 15 g PMC3 and glass cabochon
Location and details: Class will be held virtually. Kits with tools, metal clay, and glass cabochon may be picked up before class at my home studio in Appleton, WI. Pieces will be returned to me for kiln-firing and finishing.
